Tyler Yocum
Age: 24 | State: California | County: San Bernardino | Case Status: No Investigation
Tyler was our youngest child with 2 older brother and a sister. He was found in the early morning on August 13, 2017 by his dad. He appeared to be sleeping but he was deceased. Since he was so young and died at home, there had to be an autopsy and full coroner’s inquest. It was 13 months before we found out cause of death. Fentanyl, it had been laced in cocaine. He’d been poisoned by fentanyl. He rarely used cocaine but it was right after the first anniversary of his grandmother’s death. He was extremely close to her. He died 1 year, 1 week, 1 day after my mom, his sons. Since so much time had passed since his death and finding out how he died no investigation was done.
Tyler never met a stranger. He would say, “I don’t like chitchat, I don’t want to talk about the weather. I want to know what’s in their soul, what makes their tick.” He was greatly loved and all of his friends considered him as their brother.
He was very generous and helped many. When he was 21 he gave a friend $1000 towards her mission trip. And friend he paid his rent when his hours had been cut. Tyler said money was a tool to help others. One time he came home in around 1:30 or 2 am with just a pair of shorts on. No shoes or socks, no pants, no shirt or jacket and it was wintertime. He had come across a homeless man and gave him his clothes. He told me with tears in his eyes that this guy had nothing so he gave them to him. He spoke Spanish and since we live in a neighborhood with many immigrants he knew almost all our neighbors. A couple of days after he died, a woman and a young boy around 7 or 8 knocked on our door. The mom didn’t speak English so her son was their spokesperson. He handed me an envelope and said that this was to help for Tyler and he was my friend. There was $100 inside.
He was a gifted musician and loved playing his drums. He loved all sorts of music. He loved wearing hats and sunglasses. He had a great sense of humor and liked to joke around.
Tyler is greatly missed. And leaves a hole that can never be filled. Forever 24 💜
