Trevor Leopold
Age: 18 | State: California | County: Sonoma | Case Status: Closed
Trevor Leopold was a nature-loving, kind and caring human being. He loved adrenaline-filled activities including skateboarding, skiing, snowboarding, and triathalons during his 18 years on earth. Trevor died in his dorm room at Sonoma State University in November of his Freshman year, after ingesting a “Blue 30” that contained no oxycontin, but did contain a lethal dose of illicit fentanyl.
The Sonoma State Police pursued the investigation aggressively in 2019, after learning of the drug dealer from multiple sources, many immediately after learning of Trevor’s death. However, the epidemic of fentanyl poisonings were just beginning in the US when Trevor died, there wasn’t even a weights system for sentencing of fentanyl dealers per the Sonoma D.A.’s office, #OnePillCanKill was not yet common knowledge spread by the DEA and others, and the Sonoma D.A.’s office sadly shared with Trevor’s family that it would be impossible to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, that the Blue 30s sold to Trevor by the known dealer Friday night, in front of witnesses, was where Trevor got the Blue 30 that killed him the next night.
