Isreal “Izzi” Frankiewicz transitioned on 03.11.2020 thirty days before his 19th birthday. He was a college Freshman, hockey player, employed at a senior assisted living facility as the youngest member of the team, a new big brother (3 months 6 weeks of which was in a NICU), an amazing son, brother, nephew, grandson, and friend.

His case, as told to me by San Diego DEA, would not be investigated. They would not call any of the witnesses (I gatherednames, addresses, phone numbers), or investigate any of the persons involved in the case. I was told, verbatim, that I can pray that the person responsible was caught in another case, and that is how I would get justice. They centered this around the fact that they could not gather evidence from his phone, and they could not interview anyone without evidence, and they were too busy to do so.

This was during the height of covid. I was too devastated over his death to pursue action. Then I moved to Illinois. I decided to focus on advocacy. But sometimes I wish he received some semblance of justice, or even care from the policing authorities.

I continue to remember his amazing legacy of friendship, kindness and wisdom and that is what brings me peace.
